On Senior Citizens' Day, the unwavering dedication of elders to their families has been brought into focus through the stories of two remarkable senior citizens from Dagupan City.

Jesely Coronel, a 65-year-old from Barangay Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City, said parenthood doesn’t end when children grow up and start working.

Despite his age, he takes his two grandchildren diligently to and from school every day.

This daily routine not only helps his working children but also ensures the safety of his grandchildren, who travel through busy and often hazardous streets.

"Yung magulang nila nagwo-work so mapipilitan ako maghatid-sundo. Mahirap kasi mga bata [pa sila], lalo na itong daan, napakasikip [at] may mga [dumadaang] tricycle at tri-bike, baka masagi sila," Coronel said.

In addition to his transportation duties, Coronel also prepares meals for his grandchildren.

Similarly, 65-year-old Camilo Ayson is committed to his family’s well-being.

Each morning, before starting his own work, Ayson makes sure to drop off his child who is studying in college.

Despite his age, he continues to work hard to provide for his family and cover educational expenses.

"Kumakayod ako kasi kulang ang baon ng mga anak ko. Nagpapaaral ako ng college. Kapag hindi ko na kaya siyempre hihinto na rin ako," Ayson said.
