GMA personalities were recognized at the 40th PMPC Star Awards for Movies held last July 21 at the Henry Lee Theater at Ateneo de Manila University. 

Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 and Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) 2024 big winner “Firefly” continued its winning streak with several awards from the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC).

Named as the New Movie Actress of the Year was Sparkle artist Ysabel Ortega. She portrayed Erika in “Firefly,” a stranger who helped the protagonist achieve his dreams of reaching the magical island filled with fireflies.

Earning the Movie Child Performer of the Year award was Euwenn Mikael. The Sparkle child star played the role of Tonton, a young boy who found himself on a journey to find the mystical island of fireflies from his mother’s bedtime stories. 

Likewise honored by the award giving body as the Movie Cinematographer of the Year was Neil Daza.

Sparkle artist Dustin Yu was given the accolade New Movie Actor of the Year for Shake Rattle And Roll Extreme – Rage episode.

Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards both took home the Movie Actor of the Year for their excellent performance in the films “Rewind” and “Five Breakups and a Romance,” respectively.

For her remarkable performance in the comedy film “Here Comes the Groom,” Gladys Reyes was honored as the Movie Supporting Actress of the Year.

Several Kapuso personalities were also given Special Awards during the awarding ceremony.

Kapuso Primetime King and Queen Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera were named Takilya King and Queen for their record-breaking movie “Rewind.”

Winning the Movie Loveteam of the Year award were the lead stars of “Five Breakups and a Romance” – Alden Richards and Julia Montes.

PMPC also named Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. as the Darling of the Press, Marian Rivera as the Female Face of the Night, and Alden Richards as the Male Shining Personality of the Night. 

Organized by the Philippines Movie Press Club Inc., the PMPC Star Awards for Movies honor films, filmmakers, and artists, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the local movie industry.
