There was no stopping residents of Batangas City from celebrating their colorful heritage.

Despite relentless rain, 15 groups participating in the Subli Festival 2024 kept their spirits for the city’s 55th Foundation Day with vibrant performances and colorful floats.

The 15 groups from various barangays were divided into five clusters. They performed Subli dances that embody the city’s colorful heritage.

The event also honored the city’s patron, the Sto. Niño of Batangan, believed to be miraculous and powerful.

The floats, which displayed Batangas' world-class products, wealth, and culture, were highlights of the parade.

In addition to the floats and dance performances, several walking contingents from local establishments and organizations participated.

The festival’s vibrant atmosphere was enhanced further by the smiles and applause from residents, visitors, and guests.

Lourdes Batulay, a 69-year-old resident, braved the rain to witness the festivities.

“Masaya, masaya naman… nakaka [tanggal ng stress]. Minsan laang naman sa isang taon [ito nagaganap],” she said.

For residents like Fely Mabalingan, the Subli Festival is a cherished reminder of the city's rich culture.

The Batangas City LGU continues to encourage the youth to embrace and extend the city's artistic and cultural legacy, ensuring that the Subli Festival remains a significant part of Batangas City’s identity.
