Nothing but love for “Pulang Araw!”

GMA Network’s upcoming war drama Pulang Araw has been the talk of the town on social media since the successful release of its official trailer on Tuesday, July 9, amassing more than five million views in less than a day and earning a lot of positive feedback for its astonishing visuals and interesting storylines.

The 11-minute trailer introduces the series’ main characters, led by the main quartet of Alden Richards, who plays Filipino guerilla and loving brother Eduardo dela Cruz; Barbie Forteza and Sanya Lopez, who will give life to half-sisters and aspiring bodabil stars Adelina dela Cruz and Teresita Borromeo; and David Licauco, who portrays Hiroshi Tanaka, a son of Japanese immigrants in the Philippines. 

The story revolves around the characters’ intertwined lives, shedding light on their individual quests and the intersection of their struggles and interests. All the while, the show also boasts of its unique fictionalized depiction of the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War 2. 

The trailer also provides a glimpse of the supporting characters, brought to life by the powerhouse lineup of Epy Quizon, Angelu De Leon, Neil Ryan Sese, Rochelle Pangilinan, Robert Seña, Sef Cadayona, Ashley Ortega, Jay Arcilla, Aidan Veneracion, and Tyro Daylusan. 

It also highlights the much-anticipated villanous debut of Dennis Trillo as he plays the role of Col. Yuta Saitoh, his first major portrayal of an antagonist.

"GMA lang talaga ang may lakas ng loob sa Philippine TV na gumawa ng ganitong uri ng palabas. Napakaganda! Grabe ang production value!” remarked another.

#PulangAraw also made the top trending list on X (formerly Twitter) on the night of the trailer’s premiere. 

Directed by Dominic Zapata and written by Suzette Doctolero, “Pulang Araw” will first arrive on Netflix on July 26, and will make its television premiere on July 29 on GMA Prime.
