More than 300 boats and barges participated in the 427th celebration of the feast of St. Peter the Apostle, the patron saint of Apalit, also known as "Apung Iru," among Kapampangans.
The parade sailed the seven-kilometer stretch of the Pampanga River.
The fluvial parade or 'li-bad ilug' pays homage to the patron saint of Apalit.
"Apalit is known dati sa Pampanga River [as] Reo Grande De Pampanga. One way to thank God is to hold a procession in honor of St. Peter… ang gamit natin instead of land [ay] sa river," Glenn Danting, Municipal Administrator, said.
Over 3,000 devotees joined the festivities, celebrating and partaking in the most anticipated tradition in the town.
