Around 70 furbabies showcased Filipino pride during the "Paw-siklab: Celebrating Philippine Independence with Style" fashion show in Naga City, Camarines Sur.

Furparents from different places traveled to Naga City with their beloved pets to participate in the fashion show.

Karren Embido, from Ligao City, Albay, came with three of her 13 furbabies to join the event.

'Rain', a two-year-old Aspin, walked the runway in a modern Filipiniana outfit paired with a matching pearl leash, which coordinated with Embido's attire.

Meanwhile, Embido’s niece and their 1-year-old Shih Tzu Maltese, 'Chimi', wore matching Igorot costumes.

"Para po mahiling ang connection between the pet and the furparent. Gusto po naming ma-ishowcase ang pets mi, especially itong aspin since ang theme ninda is about Filipinos’ Kalayaan," Embido said.

The event featured 70 furbabies of different breeds, from small dogs to larger breeds like the Saint Bernard.

Each pet was checked by a veterinarian to ensure they were up-to-date with vaccinations and were fit to participate.

While waiting for their turn on the runway, pets enjoyed a free buffet.

The post-Independence Day celebration theme allowed furparents to showcase their creativity in dressing up their pets, and show that regardless of breed, all dogs are considered 'Asong Pinoy'.

The event organizers said they wanted the dog lovers community in Naga City to grow.

"Kaya kami naggibo kang activity na ni for one, is para magdakula ang community kang mga dog lovers digdi sa Naga, kaya kami nagkaigwa kaining Naga Dog Community; and gusto mi, every so often, nagkakaigwa ning event para magdakula ang community," Jenette Beltran of the Naga Dog Community, said.
