“Pulang Araw,” GMA Network’s groundbreaking war-drama series, is set to premiere on Netflix on July 26, three days ahead of its debut on free television.
Meanwhile, the series will premiere on GMA Prime beginning July 29, 2024.
Through a social media post on Monday, June 10, Netflix announced the arrival date of GMA Network’s highly anticipated war-drama, topbilled by the media giant’s biggest stars: Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza, First Lady of Primetime Sanya Lopez, Pambansang Ginoo David Licauco, and Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards.
The series will also see the participation of Dennis Trillo in a special role as he portrays the life of a villanous Japanese soldier, a first major anti-hero assignment for the Kapuso Drama King.
“Pulang Araw” explores a fictional depiction of the lived realities of Filipinos during the Japanese Occupation, zeroing in on the dynamic lives of four childhood friends who, after suffering from and ultimately surviving the war’s ramifications, will be led to separate but interwoven journeys towards hope, liberation, and self-reflection.
Netflix’ “Pulang Araw” announcement on Monday came just in time as the Philippines celebrates its 126th Independence Day.
