The MS Hanseatic Spirit, an international cruise ship from Germany, has docked at Calaguas Islands, Camarines Norte, marking its third visit to the area.

The island is one of four destinations in the Philippines included in the ship’s itinerary.

Before arriving at Calaguas Islands, the ship first docked in Legazpi City, Albay.

On board the ship are at least 230 German passengers, and 160 German and Filipino crew members.

The local government of Vinzons welcomed the ship, saying it can promote local tourist destinations globally.

“Sobrang happy and sobrang proud, and finally makikilala na itong Calaguas Group of Islands sa international [scene],” Mayor Eleanor Segundo, said.

The presence of the cruise ship was expected to open opportunities for local residents and stakeholders in the municipality.

”The welcome is perfect, this is super nice and we really appreciate all those friendly people coming on board, everybody showing total openness,” Captain Claas Fischer of MS Hanseatic Spirit, said.
