Boiled eggs used as fiesta decorations boosted the festive mood in Barangay Cadawinonan, Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental.

A total of 7,200 eggs were boiled, placed in cellophanes, tied to appear like “banderitas” (or fiesta trimmings resembling pennants), and adorned the roadside in Purok Tugas.

The “egg banderitas” stretched to 800 meters long.

The eggs that were used as novel fiesta decors were later shared by fiesta revelers, motorists, and residents in a communal munch.

The “egg-all-you-can” road decoration was an offering to Saint Joseph the Worker on March 19, 2024, according to devotee Silverio Magallanes, 51 years old, a city resident whose business involves egg distribution.

Silverio said, in an interview over GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, that this is the first time he initiated the activity. He said that an outpouring of grace throughout three decades of his being an “egg-trepreneur” is overwhelming. Thus, he is keen on the offering of eggs the way farmers offer their crops to honor a bountiful harvest.

Residents and barangay officials spent a total of 13 hours to prepare the eggs and hang them for the community to partake.
