Veteran actress Jaclyn Jose passed away morning on March 2, 2024, her daughter, Andi Eigenmann, announced on March 4.
PPL Entertainment also confirmed the actress' death evening of March 3.
"It saddens us to inform everyone of the untimely passing of Miss Jaclyn Jose (real name Mary Jane Guck)," PPL official statement read, posted on the the company's social media accounts.
The talent agency's statement also requested for prayers and privacy on behalf of the Guck and Eigenmann families.
"More details will be shared as soon as they are available. The Guck and Eigenmann families are requesting for everyone to please pray for the eternal repose of Miss Jaclyn Jose and for them to be allowed the respect and privacy to mourn her passing and navigate these difficult times," it said.
Jaclyn, born Mary Jane Guck on October 21, 1963 in Angeles City, Pampanga, was a renowned, multi-awarded actress whose acting prowess captured the attention of the audiences and many award-giving bodies.
According to a report by GMA Integrated News, Jaclyn Jose's breakout performances include starring in Lino Brocka's "Whote Slavery" and Chito S. Roño's "Private Show."
She was also had notable apperance in multiple iconic titles: "The Flor Contemplacion Story" (1995), "Patay na si Hesus" (2019), and Brillante Mendoza's "Ma'Rosa" (2016), where Jaclyn's remarkable performance as the lead matriarch of a poor, illegal drugs-involved family earned her a Cannes Film Festival Best Actress plum.
She also sppeared in a handful of seryes by the Kapuso network, such as "Marimar," "Zorro," "Mundo Mo'y Akin," and "The Millionaire's Wife."
Jaclyn was an award-winning actress whose accolades include five Gawad Urian awards, two Luna awards, a FAMAS, and an Asian Awards nomination - on top of her Cannes Best Actress recognition.
Jaclyn is survived by children Andi Eigenmenn and Gwen Ilagan Guck.
