Whale shark sightings have been reported almost daily in Donsol, Sorsogon, signaling the upcoming "whale shark season."
The municipal tourism office hopes this will help local tourism recover more after the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With preparations underway, the town aims to attract visitors starting from Holy Week in late March, culminating in the Butanding Festival in May.
"Grinant Niya po sa amin [ito], almost everyday ang sightings ng mga butanding dito sa aming municipality lalong-lalo na po sa municipal sea water ng Donsol," Dondon Llagas, the Municipal Tourism Officer of Donsol, said.
