The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Northern Mindanao (BJMP-10) has opened a child-friendly visiting area and a beauty salon at the Cagayan de Oro City Jail-Male Dormitory (CDOCJ-MD) to promote family ties and enhance income-generating opportunities for persons deprived of liberty (PDL).
BJMP-10 said the new child-friendly visiting area provides more privacy for PDLs to spend time with their spouses and children.
Visiting time is 11 a.m. until 3 .m. daily except Mondays and Fridays.
A beauty salon was also opened inside the male dormitory, which is part of the livelihood program for PDLs.
BJMP-10 said PDLs who are members of the LGBTQ community will be using the salon as a means of livelihood.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has been providing training to equip PDLs with the essential skills.
“Gina-maximize nato ang ilang talent sa sulod,” Aguilon said.
