A garden that would give patients, watchers, and hospital employees a space to relax their minds has been established at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City.
The P4 million mental health amenity called “Kalinaw Garden” was turned over by the Davao Light on Friday, February 14, 2025.
“Makapahulay mi diri and then naay shade and then makalanghap mig fresh air,” a hospital client said.
Kalinaw Garden aims to give patients, watchers, and employees an area where they can preserve their mental health.
“This is in line with our effort to serve our costumers better we want to add value to our community by partnering with SPMC para sa atong medical workers and hospital patients,” Davao Light Head, Engr. Enriczar Tia, said.
“Gi-rehab namo ni… actually, naa mi existing garden pero ang sulti sa Secretary of Health, dili lang clinical aspect ang hospital, naa poy aspect for healing and garden,” SPMC Chief, Dr. Ricardo Audan, added.
The Department of Health-Davao (DOH-11) added that the garden would help decongest the wards.
“Yung mga bantay ay di masyadong nakakahalubilo doon sa ward. Madecongest natin ang ward na sapat sa mga pasyente,” DOH-11 Director, Dr. Abdullah Dumama Jr., said.
