A horse pulling a kalesa slipped and fell on Calle Crisologo in Vigan City.

In a video captured by JM Castillo Tan, coachmen came to the horse’s aid quickly, helping it stand while ensuring the safety of the tourists riding the kalesa.

The passengers and the horse were unharmed.

According to Manuel Quiba, the coachman, the horse lost its balance because of its shoes.

“Two weeks ti sapatos ti kabalyo sakbay nga agsukat kami... ti maysa sapatos, Sir, P120,” he said.

Quibo said the horse was healthy and in good condition before their trip.

The Vigan City Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office assured the public that such incidents are rare.

“Every month po natin binibigyan ng monthly vitamins, food supplement mga [kabayo na humihila ng mga] kalesa natin,” Jo-Anne Margarita Gutierrez, the office’s officer-in-charge, said.

Authorities reminded tourists that riding a kalesa in the heritage city remains safe, as regular care and monitoring are provided for both the horses and their handlers.
