The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in MIMAROPA brought holiday joy to persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) through its "Pamaskong Handog 2024" program.
The event was led by the BJMP Regional Office MIMAROPA with the support of local jail officials, personnel, and stakeholders.
It featured various activities including feeding programs, medical checkups, free haircuts, storytelling, games, and gift-giving for PDLs and their children.
BJMP MIMAROPA Information Officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo described the initiative as a symbol of hope and unity.
"Ang Pamaskong Handog ng BJMP ay isang simbolo ng pag-asa at pagkakaisa, na sinisigurong walang maiiwan sa pagdiriwang ng panahon ng kapaskuhan," Anglo said.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the services and gifts, which they said inspire positivity and help them strive for a better future.
As of this writing, 2,080 PDLs are set to celebrate Christmas and New Year in 19 BJMP-managed facilities across Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.
