Farmers in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija were introduced to cutting-edge farming machinery from Korea during a mechanization roadshow aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.
The government hopes these advanced machines will help farmers increase their yield and income.
Some of the equipment featured included drones, hand tractor rotavators, village-design corn mills, rice polishing machines, multi-purpose lifting machines, and onion seeders.
"Definitely we mention we working with Kamico and other companies as well — we're very thankful to Kamico, we're not limited, in fact the Undersecretary for DA (Department of Agriculture) was working with the Jica with Japan with regard to the post-harvest facility," Usec Jerome Oliveros of the Department of Agriculture said.
"‘Yung ating corn mill... is a joint collaboration, meron na rin na ginawa na sa onion, actually... meron ding machinery center na itinayo sa Philmech," Engineer Arnel de Mesa added.
The machinery was demonstrated on a four-hectare demo farm set up by the National Irrigation Administration Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-UPRIIS) in Barangay Talipapa.
"Siyempre pag-demo farm, malaking tulong yan kasi ide-demo lang nila eh, libre na 'yung [labor] nila... duon makikita ang convenient ng mga machineries na ito," Engineer Gertrudes Viado of NIA-UPRIIS said.
"Wala pa naman sir na sinasabi kung kami ay makakakuha, kami po 'yung nagimbita sa mga magsasaka," Juanito Adriano, Chairman of the Hoy Gising Farmers Cooperative, said.
The event also announced that 20 hectares of land will be needed for the 20 Korean investors planning to build a factory in the area.
