The Social Security System (SSS) began distributing the 13th month pay to pensioners, equivalent to one month’s pension starting on December 2, 2024.

"It is the time of the year na makuha ang 13th month pay nila, I hope na makatulong ito sa kanila," Jocelyn Lim, Assistant Branch Head of SSS Dagupan, said.

For pensioners like Rodrigo Castaneto from Mangaldan, Pangasinan, the extra payment is a big help, especially during the holiday season.

"Malaking bagay ito, at least ‘yung hinulugan namin ng matagal na panahon ngayon nakakatulong na sa amin," Castaneto said.

He plans to use the money for holiday expenses and gifts for his loved ones.

Pensioners can receive their 13th month pay through the Philippine Electronic Fund Transfer System, banks, or cash payout outlets where they get their monthly pensions.

Those whose contingency dates fall between the 1st and 15th received their payment on December 2, while those with contingency dates from the 16th to 31st will receive theirs on December 4.
