The Province of Northern Samar reported zero casualties on Monday, November 18, 2024, as #PepitoPH (international name: Man-Yi) wrought extensive damage in areas within its track.

“As a precautionary measure of local governments, the order of preemptive evacuation across all towns of Northern Samar resulted to 23,568 families or 85,159 individuals displaced when Super Typhoon Pepito passed close to the province on November 16, 2024,” according to the final report of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on November 18, 2024.

The Provincial Government of Northern Samar pointed out that the “threat of violent winds and heavy rains that Super Typhoon Pepito brought, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 having been hoisted in the eastern and central parts of Northern Samar and the rest of the province placed under Signal No. 2, prompted large-scale evacuation worked by authorities to ensure the safety of residents.”

#PepitoPH made landfall twice; the first was in the evening of November 16, 2024 over Panganiban town in the Province of Catanduanes, while the second one was in the afternoon on November 17, 2024, in Dipaculao town, Aurora Province.
