Tumalog Falls in the Municipality of Oslob, southern Cebu Province reopened on October 30, 2024.
“We thank God for replenishing the beautiful waters of Tumalog Falls in Oslob, Cebu. Nature's gift must always be treasured as it can easily come and go, but with God's hand working its wonders, we can behold its beauty,” the Municipality of Oslob - Tourism Office wrote in a post.
Same entrance fees apply, according to the Tourism Office, P25 for children 12 years old and below, P50 for adults and youngsters above 12 years old. Oslob locals enjoy a special rate of P20 only for both adults and children.
To recall, a sinkhole was speculated to have diverted possibly the flow of water instead of toward Tumalog Falls, a popular tourist spot in Oslob.
The area dried up despite episodes of torrential rains since June 2024.
The Local Government Unit of Oslob had investigated on the possibility of a sinkhole where stream water could have flowed into instead of cascading at Tumalog Falls.
Videos and photographs of the area sans the falling of water perplexed residents and netizens.
Speculations had it that the water could have taken on a new path, or that possible disruptions both natural and man-made could have diverted the flow.
The past absence of water in Tumalog worried residents who have come to depend on the activities at the tourist spot as a source of livelihood.
The situation also worried town leaders as there might be environmental conditions that they need to understand.
