The Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) has announced a decrease in power rate for the month of October.

In an advisory, DLPC said the rate is down to P8.45 per kilowatt hour from P9.48 per kilowatt hour last month.

It means that the overall residential electricity rate has decreased by P1 per kilowatt hour or an equivalent of P200 per 200-kilowatt hour consumption.

“The rate reduction follows the conclusion of the staggered payment for the May 2024 Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) billing which was evenly divided from June to September as directed by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC),” DLPC advisory said.

In an interview with GMA Super Radyo Davao, DLPC Reputation Enhancement Division Head, Fermin Edillon, said the decrease in the power rates is also due to the reduction of generation charge from power suppliers.

DLPC urged its customers to manage their energy consumption wisely and efficiently to avoid high electricity bills.
