Around 300 sacks of fertilizer were distributed to farmers in Barangay Macayug and Barangay Inlambo in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, to help tobacco growers in the area.
The assistance came from the province's Tobacco Excise Tax, benefiting local farmers who rely heavily on tobacco farming.
"Malaking tulong ito sa mga farmers, alam mo na, mga farmers puro utang," Rodolfo Biasura, one of the farmers, said.
Mangaldan Municipal Agriculturist Merle Cuison-Sali explained, “Ito po ay intended for tobacco growers... lalo na ngayon na ang mga recipient ay mga taga-Macayug at Inlambo kasi sila po ang nagtatanim ng tobacco sa ating bayan.”
As of this writing, the Municipal Agriculture Office has not reported any major concerns affecting the town's tobacco farmers.
