Beginning in 2025, senior citizens in Mandaue City are set to receive P10,000 in financial assistance.

The announcement was made on October 1, 2024 on the opening of Elderly Filipino Week celebration in Mandaue City.

Over 29,000 senior citizens in the city are expected to receive the financial aid, according to Carlo Jesus Cotejo, officer in charge of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).

Meanwhile, Atty. August Lizer Malate, supervising officer of OSCA, said that there is a pending resolution at the City Council on an Ordinance on Senior Citizens Welfare.

Once the ordinance is signed, a committee, that is in place, will screen the applications for an OSCA identification card in the city.

Financial assistance will only be available to legitimate senior citizen-voters in the city, Malate emphasized.
