A P10-million emergency hotline dubbed the first in the Visayas regions was launched in Cebu City.

The activation of 911 Emergency Hotline on September 30, 2024 was attended by officials of the Cebu City Government and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Hotline 911 will be operated and managed by the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO) with support from the Local Government Unit and line agencies such as the Philippine National Police (PNP), according to Acting Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia.

The command center is equipped with both physical and digital tools to respond urgently and efficiently to calls or alarms from various locations in the city.

It was further learned that personnel of the CCDRRMO Communications Section underwent training on “911 Emergency Telecommunicators Capacity Building” conducted by the DILG.

The training helps medical dispatch and operation center personnel handle information and data privacy properly.
