Authorities in Barangay Bacayao Sur, Dagupan City, have ramped up efforts to capture stray dogs, which have been causing accidents and inconvenience to residents and motorists.

Residents have complained about dogs attacking livestock and littering the streets.

"May isang problema na may ganiyang insidente, halos walong panabong na manok yung kinain niya kaya nagrereklamo yung may-ari," Fausto Gemeno, Jr., a resident, said.

Motorists are also concerned, especially during nighttime drives.

"Nakakaapekto siya kasi bilang motorista... biglang nabulaga kami na lumabas yung aso lalo kapag naka-motor. Delikado siya kasi pwede kaming sumemplang," Renz Consuelo, a frequent driver in the area, said.

Despite the barangay’s ordinance requiring pets to be tied, many owners are still not following the rules.

"Lalo na yung mga estudyante, natatakot... yung mga dumi ng aso, problema namin talaga yan. Kaya ang ginawa naming paraan, nanghuhuli na kami halos inaaraw-araw na namin," Barangay Chairman Michael Taminaya said.

Authorities remind pet owners to be responsible, ensuring safety for everyone and avoiding fines.
