Business owners in Dagupan City are dealing with a growing rat problem after recent floods, with many taking action to keep their establishments rodent-free.

Several business owners in Dagupan City have raised concerns about the increase in the number of rats coming from canals after the city experienced heavy flooding.

"Andami na diyan sa labas na daga," Robert Padua, an entrepreneur, said.

To address the issue, some business owners have set up mouse traps near their stores while others have stepped up cleaning efforts to prevent the rodents from entering their establishments.

"Naglilinis talaga kami dito sa canteen, malinis dito sa amin," Padua said.

In response to the health risks posed by the rats, the Dagupan City government has distributed medicines against leptospirosis.

"Walang problema kasi talagang bago pa man ang baha, nagbibigay na tayo... and sinasabi natin, kung lulusong sila sa baha, dapat uminom sila ng gamot," Mayor Belen Fernandez said.

Barangays across the city have also been cleaning their drainage to prevent the rat population from increasing further.
