Residents of Punta Dumalag in Barangay Matina Aplaya, Davao City have raised concerns over the deteriorating and dangerous footbridge in the area.

They said the footbridge has already posed danger among residents, especially children.

“Wa man gud mi kabalo, ma’am… anytime mahugno, anytime mabulasot kay tungod sa kagabok sa kahoy… ang mga estudyante, kadlawon manglakaw na, luoy mga bata,” Mary Jean Roa, one of the residents, said.

Barangay officials allegedly promised to allocate budget for the footbridge before the barangay elections in 2021. However, no footbridge was put in place until now.

Residents said they have been helping each other in repairing the footbridge, but it gets damaged when there are strong waves.

Residents are hoping that their problem will be addressed.

“Sige na og balud namroblema nami wala man gud mi ikagasto ang amoa lang madayunan na og tulay sa gobyerno unta,” Roa said.
