In celebration of World Bamboo Day on September 18, 2024, the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR) employees in Ilocos Norte climbed the mountains of Carasi to plant bamboo.
The activity aimed to increase the bamboo population in the region’s mountainous areas.
Known as the tallest grass, bamboo plays a significant role in protecting against strong winds and typhoons.
DENR hopes to raise public awareness about bamboo's environmental impact and promote its cultivation in the region.
