Due to bad weather affecting various parts of the country, vendors like Joanna Versoza are struggling with slow business, pushing them to try new strategies to keep sales up.

Versoza, a resident of Calasiao, Pangasinan used to sell 40 kilos of puto daily, her sales have now dropped to nearly half.

"Ngayon po, Sir, matumal. Mataas na po namin siguro yung nasa 20 kilos — pag malakas umaabot sa 40 kilos," she said.

To cope with the drop in sales, Versoza has turned to online selling to reach more customers.

"Basta magtawag-tawag nalang kami. Ini-o-online na lang namin," she added.

Despite no changes in the price of raw materials for making puto, vendors like Versoza are carefully adjusting their approach to avoid losses.

Plain puto remains at P110 per kilo, while the flavored version with cheese is priced at P130 per kilo.

One customer, Risa Coronia, is supporting the vendors' new sales strategy amid the tough weather.

“Okay lang naman, kasi mas mahal sa amin,” she said.
