A 22-year-old man drowned while swimming off the coast of Barangay Puro, Legazpi City.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), a report was filed when the victim disappeared while swimming at sea on July 18, 2024.
The current reportedly became strong at that time.
“1:30 [p.m.] po sila naligo tapos yun medyo lumakas yung alon, tapos pagbalik na sila, pagtingin nila sa likod, wala na yung kasama nila. Nag-report na po sila na nawawala yung kasama nila,” CG CPO Efren Abanilla, PCG Legazpi City Sub-station Commander, said.
An operation was launched and authorities found the victim’s body morning on July 19 in the same spot where he went missing.
PCG reminded the public to always be careful, especially when the current becomes strong.
