Authorities have announced temporary road closures and rerouting of vehicles in Daraga and Legazpi City, Albay as the much-awaited Bicol Loco, Hot Air Balloon and Music Festival, are set to take place from May 3 to May 5, 2024.

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES:

  • Magayon Drive will be closed from May 3, 5 a.m. until May 6, 5 a.m.
  • The right lane of Duterte Highway, Maroroy Road, and Spillway Maroroy Talipapa will be closed from May 3, 7 a.m. until midnight of May 6.

REROUTING:

  • Magayon Drive (One way): Vehicles going to Legazpi should take Lakandula Drive via Bogtong Road, except for residents in the area.
  • Bagtang Road (One way): Private vehicles should take Bagtang Road via Maroroy Road.
  • Maroroy Road (One way): Vehicles from Bagtang Road should head towards Daraga Poblacion.
  • Daraga to Legazpi City Route: PUJs and private vehicles should use Rizal Street.
  • Legazpi City to Sorsogon Route: Vehicles should take Rizal Street or Tabon-Tabon-Estanza Road.
  • Third District (North) to Legazpi City Route: Vehicles coming from the Third District of Albay, Naga City, and Manila should also take Rizal Street or Lakandula Drive via Bogtong Road.

The right lane of Duterte Highway will be used as parking space for festival guests, participants, and visitors. While the left lane will accommodate two-way traffic for all vehicles.

Emergency vehicles will still have access to the closed roads.

Among the highlights of the event are skydiving, hot air balloon fly-outs, paragliding, and many other thrilling activities.

“We would like to invite everybody, first time [ito] sa Bicol, para makita niyo lahat yung mga balloon, eroplano, saranggola, drones, [at] paramotors… for all ages to,” Capt. Joy Roa, Event Coordinator of the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF), said.

“It's gonna be incredible, and like I said, if you don’t come you gonna be sorry,” Linas Mastis, Hot Air Balloon Pilot, said.
