The Province of Bohol has commemorated the 459^th Blood Compact and the opening of Saulog Festival 2024.

The life-size Sandugo monument, an important cultural property sculpted by national artist Napoleon Abueva, was moved to the Tagbilaran City Friendship Park.

A reenactment of the blood compact was carried out during the program.

The blood compact is a treaty of friendship between Datu Sikatuna, chieftain of Bohol, and Spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi.

Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap said exciting activities are already on the board.

“Of course, karung 2024 nga Saulog daghan kaayo ta og activities nga naka-line up. Gikan sa sports, gikan sa Kumbira sa Tagbilaran, atong nagkalain-laing nightly activities, to our novenas in our church. Tanan kung unsay imong pangitaon naa gyuy giandam ang Tagbilaran City,” Mayor Yap said. 

The Saulog streetdancing competition is scheduled on May 1, 2024.

The program also marked the official opening of Sandugo Festival 2024, a grand event that residents and visitors look forward to each year.
