Usher in the Holiday season with Princess Velasco’s new Christmas single and her father’s very own composition, “The New Born King.”
Princess releases this new Christmas song under GMA Music today, November 16.
She talks about it in an email interview with GMANetwork.com, saying, "The theme is about the night when the child Jesus was born, how the bright shining star guided the Three Kings to the manger where He was born, and how the world rejoiced on the birth of the Savior.”
She also reveals that “The New Born King” is an original composition by her father.
Princess says, “My dad, Alfredo Velasco who is turning 81 years old this November, wrote the first version of this song way back in 1964. He even kept the piano piece of the melody. During the quarantine, since he is just at home and bored, he decided to revisit the song and finish it. He asked me to have it arranged and for me to sing it, and it is his birthday wish to have it released for Christmas 2020, 56 years [later]!
“I decided to produce the song as a gift to my Daddy, and asked my friend Mic Llave to arrange it. He was able to give life and joy to the song, I recorded it remotely here at home and he also mixed it in his home. So yes, this is a quarantine-produced song.”
“The New Born King” is now available for download and streaming worldwide.
Princess shares her delight about its release, saying, “We are so thankful for the chance to share this Christmas song which was kept in an old folder for over half a century! Thanks to GMA Music for helping us get heard! Even if 2020 has been hard on all of us, we will still celebrate the joy of Christmas—the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ."
