Super Radyo, Barangay LS Rule Mega Manila List

GMA Network's flagship radio stations remain the top choice of Mega Manila listeners.           

Data from Nielsen’s Radio Audience Measurement (RAM) show that from January to September 2023, Super Radyo DZBB 594 and Barangay LS 97.1 Forever! dominated the airwaves on AM and FM, respectively.

Super Radyo DZBB 594 drew a total audience share of 31.66 percent, ahead of its closest competitor DZRH, which got 28.75 percent.

Barangay LS 97.1 remains in the number one spot among FM stations, averaging a total audience share of 41.37 percent during the same period, taking the lead against its nearest competition, Love Radio with 15.68 percent.

For September alone, both DZBB and Barangay LS 97.1 remained the top choice of Mega Manila listeners. DZBB garnered a total audience share of 35 percent against DZRH's 23.9. Listeners of Barangay LS 97.1 kept the FM station in the lead with a total audience share of 36.8 percent over Love Radio 90.7's 16.2 percent.

DZBB’s morning block still dominated the station’s highest-rating daypart with programs "Saksi sa Dobol B", “Super Balita sa Umaga Nationwide,” “Melo Del Prado sa Super Radyo,” "Pinoy MD," "Buena Manong Balita," “Executive Summary,” and “Dobol Weng sa Dobol B.” 

GMA’s flagship AM radio station further strengthens its programming line-up with its latest roster of shows: “Markado” anchored by Mark Makalalad and airs weekdays at 3 AM and Saturdays at 4 AM; “Bangon Na Bayan,” – the news and commentary program anchored by Melo Del Prado and Joel Reyes Zobel which airs weekdays at 6:30 AM; and “Hataw Sa Hapon” anchored by Rene Sta. Cruz which airs weekdays at 2 PM.

On FM, listeners continued to tune in to high-rating programs “Barangay Love Stories,” “Talk to Papa,” “Forever Request,” and “Song Book.” Beyond radio, Barangay Love Stories has consistently captivated Spotify users with Barangay Love Stories Podcast ranking number 1 in the Philippines' Spotify Podcast Charts as of October 9.

GMA’s Barangay FM 93.5 Dagupan, likewise dominated the Key Cities in Q3, landing the top spot among 20 stations with 44.5 percent total audience share, still ahead of competition Love Radio Dagupan, which got 23.7 percent.

Besides dominating the AM and FM airwaves, the Kapuso Network's radio personalities also received special recognition for their work. DZBB's Henry Atuelan and Glen Juego ("Riding-in-Tandem-sa-Balita"), Rene Sta. Cruz ("Big Time Balita"), Rod Vega ("DZBB Weekend Roundup") were awardees at the 25th anniversary of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC).

Meanwhile at the 11th Makatao Awards of the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), Arnold Clavio and Connie Sison were recognized as Best Radio Public Affairs Program for their show "One on One: Walang Personalan" while “Dobol Weng sa Dobol B” was named Best Radio Public Affairs Program. Joey Reyes Zobel and Melo Del Prado completed the awards by winning Best News Program Hosts.

Broadcast journalist and radio host Mike Enriquez also received posthumous honors from the two organizations.
