Nitoy Adriano, Ivan Garcia, Ely Buendia, Chris Padilla, and Bobby Padilla sing of slices of life with rockability and punkability, and the added zing of country, blues and everything else.

When they launched their debut album last year, they were tagged as a “supergroup” of singers.

What with Eraserheads’ Ely Buendia, legendary guitarist Nitoy Adriano, and the two Padillas and Ivan Garcia of Hilera.

On Dec. 2, Tuesday, Ivan and the Padillas – while serving as co-DJ of Barangay LS’ Mama Belle in Sikat sa Barangay – talked about working with the great Ely Buendia as well as their album.

Hear them out.

What sets you apart from other OPM bands?

Chris Padilla: “’Yung music na nagawa namin siguro as a band kaming lima siguro what sets us apart is unang-una ‘yung generation gap dahil tig-20 years kami si Nitoy [Adriano], nasa 65. Para sa akin halos miracle na nagkasama-sama kami. Hindi lang as bandmates pero as friends okay din. Parang may flavour ng bawat panahon.”

Were you pressured working with a Pinoy icon like Ely Buendia?

Chris Padilla: “Noong ‘una na-starstruck kami siyempre. Noong time na nag-start kaming mag-collaborate, ang ipinaramdam niya sa amin, parang musician to musician. At first medyo awkward dahil siyempre di ba parang kuya na namin tsaka si Nitoy pa.”

Bobby: “Tsaka pag sa music kasi mas madaling mag-usap.”

What is your favorite track in your self-titled album?

Ivan: “Walang Magawa, tsaka Bungo sa Bangin.”

Bobby: “Detox.”

Chris: “Actually lahat nun paborito namin.”

Who among the Padillas is the best singer.  Was your family musically inclined?

Bobby: “Walang pinakamagaling lahat sila magaling. Naks!”

Chris: “Iba-iba rin kami ng influence eh, ng style. ‘Yung lolo ko sa mother side, singer siya tapos ‘yung iba pintor.  Tapos sa father side naman sa acting well may singing din.”

Any dream projects or dream collaboration for 2015?

Chris: “May pagka-anything goes kami kung ano ‘yung dumating [tatangapin namin]. We’ll cross the bridge when we get there.”
