Marian has been working hard to get the word out about this Cinemalaya project with acclaimed director Kip Oebanda, attending its story conference and press conference and highlighting the film's merits.

Co-produced by GMA Pictures and the GMA Entertainment Group with Cinemalaya, Balota tells the story of Teacher Emmy, who escapes into the wilderness with the last copy of election results when violence erupts in their town.

In an interview, Marian shared that she began feeling fulfilled by acting again after making the film.

“Hindi ko mapaliwanag 'yung pakiramdam ko after ko matapos 'yung Balota. Parang palagi kong sinasabi, lalo na sa asawa ko, na alam mo 'yung ang tagal ko sa showbiz pero parang bumalik ulit 'yung fulfillment ko sa sarili ko sa paggawa ng trabaho,” she said.

Marian has also been thankful to the fans who have been all out in their support for the movie, posting a video on her Facebook page of various audience reactions to the movie.

“Taos pusong pasasalamat sa pagmamahal sa Balota higit lalo kay Teacher Emmy,” she wrote in the caption.

Aside from Marian, the cast of Balota includes Will Ashley, Royce Cabrera, Raheel Bhyria, Gardo Versoza, Mae Paner, Nico Antonio, Donna Cariaga, Joel Saracho, Sue Prado, Esnyr, at Sassa Gurl.
