Michael V.'s labor of love 'Family History' is part of Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2020

Pinoy cinephiles have seen a new side of award-winning comedian and content creator Michael V. when his movie Family History was shown in cinemas across the Philippines and in the US in 2019.

His directorial debut proved to everyone that he is a creative force and an unparalleled comedy genius of his generation.

Fans of Direk Bitoy will now get the chance to watch this labor of love again since Family History is part of the 2020 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP).

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) still decided to mount this year’s PPP, and to adapt to the new normal, people can watch the masterpiece entries online.

According to reports, all PPP films and events will be accessible in an exclusive FDCP-sponsored platform, and festival passes will be sold to the public.

All the proceeds generated from this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino will be given to producers through a revenue-sharing agreement.

This is a perfect opportunity for moviegoers to enjoy quality films and documentaries right in the comforts of their own home and witness again the brilliant acting of Michael V. and seasoned TV-movie star Dawn Zulueta.

Family History features the life of Alex Dela Cruz (Michael V.), a happily married man who finds himself at a crossroad in his life when a life-changing disease challenges his marriage to his wife, May (Dawn Zulueta).

This family drama movie also stars Miguel Tanfelix, Bianca Umali, John Estrada, Paolo Contis, Ina Feleo, Kakai Bautista, and highly-respected actor Nonie Buencamino.

Mikoy Morales, Nikki Co, Vince Gamad, and Jemwell Ventinilla are also part of the star-studded cast.

Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and multi-awarded comedienne and TV host Eugene Domingo play special cameo roles in the film as well. 

The movie is a production between GMA Pictures and Mic Test Entertainment.

Early this year, Family History bagged the Natatanging Pelikulang Pampamilya Special Award from the Hiyas ng Sining 4th GEMS Awards.
