Peso deals lower at P51.98 and P52.98 vs $1


The US dollar on Tuesday was dealing between P51.98 and P52.98 at mid-trade and the Volume has reached $329 million. The Philippine currency opened at P52.05 against the greenback, lower than Monday’s P51.98 close. As of 12:10 P.M., the Philippine Stocks Exchange reported that Phisix, All shares, Financials, Industrial, Holding Firms, Property and Mining & oil were down while Services index was up. Phisix was down 7.29 points or .3498 percent at 2, 076.81. The broader All shares dipped 3.83 points or .2985 percent at 1,279.46. Financials was down .60 points or .0926 percent at 647.35. Industrial was down 27.78 points or .9053 percent at 3, 040.90. Holding firms was down 4.46 points or .4419 percent at 1,004.74. Property was down 7.51 points or .8473 percent at 878.79. Services was up 1.25 points or .1256 percent at 996.79 Mining and oil was down 79.98 points or 2.7573 percent at 2,820.67. Market analysts said the peso lowered its value for five consecutive sessions on Tuesday as the government remained under pressure of the reported destabilization plot. On Monday, Malacañang was rocked by an explosion on the line of trees fronting the Mabini Hall and the radio and television media (RTVM) office.-GMANEWS.TV
