New Zealand welcomes 2025 with fireworks display in Auckland

AUCKLAND, New Zealand - New Zealanders were among the first in the world to celebrate the arrival of 2025 with a fireworks display in Auckland on Wednesday (Tuesday evening in the Philippines).

The fireworks show started with a 10-second countdown projected on the base of Auckland's 328-meter tall Sky Tower, followed by fireworks illuminating the night sky and accompanied by a laser light show.

The display lasted five minutes with more than 500 kilograms of pyrotechnics launched from various firing sites with the Auckland Harbour Bridge also illuminated. —  Reuters
