Animal lovers cry for justice after 2 dogs shot dead by police in London

Animal lovers are calling for justice after two dogs were shot dead by the Metropolitan police in London, United Kingdom.

According to the Doncaster Free Press, the Staffordshire bull terriers named Marshall and Millions were owned by 46-year-old homeless man Louie Turnbull.

Police shot the dogs after reports that they mauled down a woman. Turnbull, meanwhile, was tasered and arrested for the charge of owning a dangerous and out of control dog.

"They pulled out all their weapons. They were intimidating me and the dogs. And all they were doing was trying to protect me," Turnbull told animal advocates demonstrating in front of Scotland Yard earlier this month.

"I had them on the lead, I was pulling them away and they just murdered them. I can't sleep," he added.

Protests and vigils have been held by dog lovers and an online petition was also setup to call for justice and an investigation into Marshall and Millions' deaths.

"This is not the first time this has happened with people's beloved pets and us the public want more stringent rules into the way that these situations are handled, I believe this situation could [have] been handled very differently!" said petition organizer Kerry Anne Zealey.

As of this writing, over 64,000 people have signed the petition.

"Marshall and Millions" is also trending on Philippine Twitter on Thursday as Filipino dog lovers sympathize with what happened to the dogs.
