Pact on registry of graduates in Phil-JobNet signed

The Department of Labor and Employment and the Commission on Higher Education on Wednesday signed a memorandum of agreement on the posting of names of fresh college graduates on Phil-JobNet, the official government site for Philippine jobs. Labor secretary Arturo Brion said “This (MOA) is part of our efforts to hit the no. 1 slot in the world skills registry, matching available skills with opportunities to bring down unemployment." Employers all over the world can access the skills registry posting on Phil-JobNet. The MOA signing is desirable to avoid job-skills mismatch among our professionals, Brion added. For his part, CHED chair Carlito Puno said “From the moment of college graduation our students can be accessed worldwide through this initiative." Director Jalilo de la Torre of the Bureau of Local Employment said that the MOA signing signals the beginning of the joint campaign to match skills with job vacancies. He said that the bureau is the agency tasked to monitor the implementation of the agreement, which will take effect in October this year. –GMANews.TV
