History of conflict: A timeline of the GPH-MNLF peace process - OPAPP

As the crisis in Zamboanga continues, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) yesterday released an infographic tracing the history of the ongoing peace process with the Moro National Liberation Front on their website.

It all begins with the Jabidah Massacre on Corregidor Island 45 years ago, in March 1968 – an event that is considered the root of all MNLF-related political unrest in Mindanao.

It lists and accounts the events that unfolded thereafter in the MNLF's efforts to declare the Bangsamoro Republic an independent entity, from its founding by Nur Misuari, to the events of September 9 this year, when MNLF forces took hostages in Zamboanga and locked government security troops in a standoff. – Kim Luces / KDM, GMA News
