Classes suspended at Davao City school due to alleged bomb threat
Classes at a school in Barangay Panacan, Davao City were suspended on Friday, July 24, 2026, due to an alleged bomb threat.
Authorities inspected the Vedasto F. Corcuera Elementary School and later declared it clear.
Authorities said a mother who was picking up her child reportedly told the school guard that Vedasto F. Corcuera Elementary School was included in a list of schools with reported bomb threats.
(Then she told us, ‘What about Corcuera? It was supposedly included in the list of areas with bomb threats.’ We told her, ‘If it was included in the bomb threat list, where is your evidence?’ But the post had already been deleted since it was from Monday. I told her, ‘So, that means it is already fake news.’)
The mother also informed a kagawad, who then alerted the police.
(The police had already coordinated with the barangay, but by then, there were already so many people that we could no longer control the crowd.)
Police learned that the mother had also received the information through a message shown to her by a neighbor on a cellphone.
Authorities are still investigating the incident to determine the source of the bomb threat. —GMA Regional TV News
