4 relatives die after drowning in well

Four relatives died after drowning in a well in Barangay Tiayon, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

According to a report on Saksi, one of the victims went inside the well to get a hammer and chisel, but was electrocuted and lost grip on the rope causing him to fall into the 28-feet deep well.

Three other family members attempted to rescue him, but suffered the same fate and drowned.

Investigation by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), who retrieved the victims, showed that the well has a submersible pump.

The BFP said the pump could have a ground fault issue that electrocuted the victims.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
