3 ash emission events, 33 quakes recorded on Kanlaon Volcano

At least three ash emission events that spanned 41 to 253 minutes long were recorded on Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island in a 24-hour observation period on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) also recorded 33 volcanic earthquakes, including five volcanic tremors that lasted eight to 23 minutes long.

Sulfur dioxide flux emitted by the volcano is recorded at 1,850 tons, as of April 14, 2025 that generated 800-meter-tall voluminous plume which drifted west-northwest and west.

The volcano edifice is inflated, PHIVOLCS added.

Alert Level 3 prevails over Kanlaon Volcano, which means “intensified unrest or magmatic unrest.” — GMA Regional TV News
