Pope Francis appoints new Ipil Bishop

Pope Francis on Monday named Msgr. Glenn Montebon Corsiga as the new bishop of the Diocese of Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay province.

Corsiga has been the vicar general of of the Diocese of Dumaguete and the parish priest of Saint Augustine of Hippo in Bacong since 2020.

Born on January 21, 1965 in Dumaguete City, Corsiga studied philosophy at Saint Joseph Seminary College in Dumaguete City, and theology at the Divine Word Seminary in Tagaytay.

He was ordained as priest for the Diocese of Dumaguete 1993 and became the parish vicar of Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Dumaguete until 1994.

In the same year, he was appointed as parish priest of Saint Clare of Montefalco in Pasay City until 1997.

Corsiga was appointed as spiritual director of Saint Joseph Seminary College from 1997 to 2022 and chaplain of Saint Paul University in Dumaguete from 1998 to 2006.

He served in various positions at Saint Joseph Seminary College in Dumaguete from 2000-2014.

In 2014, Corsiga was designated as parish priest of Saint James the Greater in Tanjay and episcopal vicar of the North District. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
