42 Chinese nabbed in Quezon; some undocumented
Authorities nabbed 42 Chinese men in a resort in Alabat Island, Quezon, where some were found to be undocumented.
In John Consulta’s exclusive report in “Saksi,” the Police Regional Office 4A said it received a report that Chinese men were traveling to the island by batch via roll-on-/roll-off (RoRo) vessel.
The Chinese men did not leave the van when it boarded the RoRo vessel.
They are doing various jobs and living in the resort, which is close to other tourists.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission is investigating whether the arrested Chinese men are Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators workers who fled from Porac, Pampanga and other areas.
The Chinese men have yet to comment on the matter. They are under the custody of the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said some of them are undocumented while others are working without permits.
They will be facing deportation cases and will be blacklisted. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
