Resident who doused dogs with hot water in Dipolog may face raps

A man in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte who doused the dogs of his neighbor with hot water may face charges for animal cruelty.

The man was caught on CCTV dousing the dogs with the water while the animals were inside a cage.

The  dogs sustained burns and were taken immediately to a veterinarian for treatment. They are now in stable condition.

The barangay has summoned the person responsible. It was learned that the noise from the dogs annoyed the neighbor, which led him to douse the animals with hot water.

The dogs’ owner is determined to press charges.

The Animal Health and Welfare Division of the Department of Agriculture-Zamboanga (DA-9) said dousing dogs with hot water violates the Animal Welfare Act (RA 8485).

The suspect maybe imprisoned or may be fined.

“Kato iya gihimo nga gibuhusan niya og init tubig, ang isa pa, kato iro nasa cage to so naa sa ground nga pwede siya kasuhan, dili man to siya stray,” DA-9 Animal Health and Welfare Division Officer, Ariben Nanong, said. — GMA Regional TV News
