Party drugs worth P7.6M intercepted in Clark — PDEA

A shipment containing party drugs worth P7,634,700 was intercepted at Port of Clark in Pampanga on Wednesday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.

In a statement on Thursday, the PDEA said the shipment with 4,491 tablets of ecstasy originated from Belgium and arrived at the Port of Clark in the Philippines on March 29.

"PDEA International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Service (ICFAS) received an information that a certain parcel from Belgium will arrive at Port of Clark," a PDEA team leader said.

"The said information was relayed by PDEA Intelligence Service (PDEA IS) to PDEA Regional Office 3 (PDEA RO3) which led to the successful interdiction operation," the official added.

In the presence of PDEA Clark personnel and witnesses, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark examined the package which contained the ecstasy. Field tests yielded positive results.

The PDEA said the seized contraband will be sent to PDEA RO3 laboratory for forensic examination.

The Philippine National Police, the National Bureau of Investigation, and other agencies assisted in the operation, according to the PDEA. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
