Marcos’ PFP fields RV Evardone for Eastern Samar guv, Sheen Gonzales for rep

Marcos’ PFP fields Gonzales, Evardone as gov, vice gov bets in Eastern Samar

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.'s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) will field Ralph Vincent “RV” Evardone for governor and Sheen Gonzales for congressman of Eastern Samar in the 2025 midterm elections.

The PFP endorsement of the Gonzales-Evardone tandem, dubbed "Solido para Progreso," was made by Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone—RV's father and and PFP’s regional chairperson for Visayas—during a proclamation rally in Dolores, Eastern Samar. The team's vice gubernatorial bet is Maricar Sison.

Gonzales previously served as Eastern Samar vice governor and mayor of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. He is also son-in-law of House Minority Leader and 4Ps party-list Representative Marcelino “Nonoy” Libanan.

Governor Evardone backed Leni Robredo during the 2022 presidential race. Marcos beat Robredo in the final tally, but Robredo got 123,000 votes in Eastern Samar against Marcos’ around 107,000.

Gonzales, however, said during the proclamation rally that “Political unity is the key to unlocking economic development and improving the quality of life for our people.”

“Our communities deserve leaders who put people over politics. When we unite around common goals—like economic opportunity, better schools, and accessible healthcare—we create a future that benefits everyone, not just a select few,” he said.

Likewise, Gonzales called for collaborative leadership in addressing the province’s challenges.

“By bringing together diverse perspectives and working hand in hand, we can craft policies that promote job creation, infrastructure development, and a thriving local economy,” Gonzales added. — BM, GMA Integrated News
