15 Davao schools suspend F2F classes on Duterte’s birthday

At least 15 public schools in Davao City suspended face-to-face classes on Friday, March 28, 2025, for a prayer rally marking the 80th birthday of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
These schools will be implementing blended learning modalities.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, Davao City Schools Division Superintendent Reynante Solitario said only schools in the downtown area likely be affected by the prayer rally will suspend face-to-face classes.
ROAD CLOSURE
Meanwhile, the local government will temporarily close C.M Recto Avenue from San Pedro St. to Magsaysay Avenue and Roxas Avenue from Quezon Boulevard to C. Bangyoy St. for the event.
The road closure will be in effect from 1 p.m. until the activity ends.
Parking of vehicles in the area will also be prohibited from 1 a.m. until the activity concludes.
CROWD ESTIMATE
The Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) said an estimate of 100,000 people are expected to attend the activity.
Around 1,800 police personnel will also be deployed to provide security.
“For Davao City as per PSSO (Public Safety and Security Office), ang estimated crowd nila is 100,000 and then sa PNP nga side, more or less 1,800 PNP personnel ang i-deploy,” PRO-11 Spokesperson, Major Catherine Dela Rey, said.
Aside from Davao City, other areas in the country and abroad will also hold similar activity for the “Tatay Digong @80, Global Filipino Solidarity.”
